Welcome to the New Year! As we enter 2015, I am filled with excitement for our industry, for Ketchum and for our client partnerships. 2014 proved that the role of communications professionals within all organizations is more vital than ever, and provided our industry with great momentum to carry us into the future.
As you know, the context for our work is changing rapidly. The most effective way to engage people is different from just a few years ago. The one-way, heavily branded sell is being replaced by a two-way dialogue that involves individuals and communities with your brand and delivers value beyond the product itself. The message is “Market to me, not my demographic.” As one of our clients asks when evaluating every campaign we present: “Will she care and will she share?” This new context requires new skills, new talent, new capabilities.
At Ketchum, we are ready to serve our clients in this new era. We have bolstered our social listening, predictive analytics and content amplification capabilities. We have invested in new content producers and designers. We are doubling-down on creative talent and training. And as the business grows in sophistication, we have evolved the role of our client counselors to become ever-more specialized, and brought in new talent such as trend spotters, behavioral economists, media buyers, broadcast television storytellers and artists to better serve our clients.
We also developed and expanded our service offerings and specialty businesses, made several strategic acquisitions and invested heavily in training our people – all to become most valued agency in the world. We’re energized by the journey, the work we are doing and the recognition that it has received; from winning PRWeek’s Campaign of the Year for an unprecedented fourth time, to winning big at Cannes and the CLIO Awards and taking home PRCA’s International Consultancy of the Year. We’ve set a strong pace and are optimistic about the road ahead.
On behalf of Ketchum‘s Executive Committee, thank you — our clients, our colleagues and all of our partners — for trusting us to help take you into the future. I invite you to take a look at a selection of our shared successes, as well as a look forward in the page below.
With my sincere gratitude and all the best for the New Year,
– Rob Flaherty, Senior Partner, CEO and President
